Is plain text enough?
For two tools it is the stated route. LTX Studio takes plain .txt files only; Toonkit names novel manuscripts written as plain text. Markdown, which one tool accepts as .md, is itself a plain-text formatting syntax. From 3 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
| Tool | Reading | What the vendor says |
|---|---|---|
| LTX Studio | File types named | Plain text (.txt) files only, per the FAQ |
| Toonkit | Text box only | Web novels, webtoon synopses and novel manuscripts written as plain text |
Inclusion rule. Tools whose own pages state something that answers the question; every other tool on the register is silent on it. Order. Alphabetical by tool name.
1In the vendors' words
Currently, LTX Studio only supports plain text (.txt) files.

2What to take from it
Plain text loses bold, italics and page layout but keeps every word. Any tool with a paste box takes it, since pasting sends plain text; where the pages differ is on whether a plain-text file can be uploaded.

3From source text to episodes
After the intake question in “Is plain text enough”, SceneMixer describes what it does with the text:
Doubao Seed 2.1 Pro is the family’s full-size tier at 100% of the base text rate, twice the default. Same three jobs — reading, writing, storyboards — with more headroom on long, crowded episodes: it holds the storyboard’s strict format more reliably and keeps track of many characters and locations in one pass.

SceneMixer separates the script language from the production language: the output (episode outlines, storyboards, on-screen text) follows your interface language, and target-region localization adapts character names, casting, and scenery for Western, East Asian, Southeast Asian, or Latin American audiences.
