Each ranking turns a short checklist into a tally: a tool earns a point for every item its own intake pages state, and the table sorts by the total. The readings are the register's, quoted from the pages and dated. Three of the tables look at what a tool makes of the text, a novel's cast and episodes, a script's scenes and shots or its full breakdown; one looks only at the text going in, and the fan story table asks for both.

A tally of statements measures what a tool chooses to document at intake. It cannot say whether a long manuscript comes through intact, and a tool with a thorough intake page can outscore one that handles text just as well and says less. Each ranking page spells out its checklist, its ties and what it leaves out.

A tool appears only when its intake pages state at least one point of the ranking in question, and every row points to the tool's own site and to the register checkpoint behind each point earned, so a total can always be traced back to a sentence on a page.
