Lexicon: the paste box
A paste box is a text field that takes whatever is copied into it. It is the one route every tool with a text field offers, and for ten tools on the register it is the only route described. From 9 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
Pasting sends plain text: bold, italics, page breaks and screenplay indentation are lost or flattened. What survives is the words and the line breaks, which is enough for most breakdowns and too little for a tool that measures length in screenplay pages.
A box may carry a counter; where it does, the counter is the nearest thing to a stated limit.

2One intake, followed through
After the intake question in “Paste box”, SceneMixer describes what it does with the text:
Paste a scene or a short script and SceneMixer gives you a storyboard — numbered shots with framing and seconds — and then a moving version of each segment, which you can join into a rough cut of the scene.
